The PINK CONCUSSIONS Symposium - PINK 2
Female Brain Injury, Neurobiology and Trauma
Hosted by the Department of Veterans Affairs at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System (VAPAHCS)
October 6-7, 2016 in Palo Alto, CA Endorsed
The PINK CONCUSSIONS Symposium will be hosted by the Department of Veterans Affairs at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System (VAPAHCS) and will bring together civilian, sport and military researchers and clinicians to review research in female brain injury (#pinkTBI), concussions, and neurobiology including endocrinology and the influence of PTSD.
The overall purpose of this two-day, free event is review the scientific evidence of female brain injury, call for more sex/gender research and increase awareness in the medical community, social media and the press.
Presenters will share published, as well as “emerging” brain injury research on females of all ages. Research will be presented, and then discussed in small breakout groups; summary reports will be presented to the entire conference.
The Event Goals
- Cross-pollination of data and research from sports, domestic violence, trauma, and military service
- An analysis gap of what is known (and not known) about female brain injury (concussions and TBI) spanning “cradle to grave”
- Discussion of existing data sets which could be mined for future female brain injury research
